And\, right now\, there are too many people being shut out from our communities. Which got us thinking\, it doesn’t need to be this way… \nSo\, along with some friends at national and local refugee organisations as part of Refugee Week\, Ben & Jerry’s are building a wall\, with a bit of a difference – to welcome\, not divide. \nWe’ll be asking our fans to cone together and decorate our wall with messages of solidarity and welcome for people who are seeking safety. \nPlus\, our wall will be complete with a celebration of refugee-led music\, arts\, spoken word set to bring people together through what unites and not divides us. And of course\, we’ll be bringing a scoop or two of our chunky and swirly Fairtrade ice cream. It was painful but if I touch them now\, I feel no pain. But the torture that is mental – this is constant…” \nThe first script created for ice&fire’s Actors for Human Rights project\, Asylum Monologues is a first-hand account of the UK’s asylum system in the words of people who have experienced it read by actors. The Actors for Human Rights programme was founded in 2006 and is a network of more than 700 professional actors across the UK who are dedicated to drawing public attention to human rights concerns\, responding to requests for rehearsed readings of our documentary plays and can go anywhere at any time. \nice&fire explores human rights stories through performance\, putting human rights at the core of everything they do to make accessible theatre for a wide range of audiences across the UK. No one knows what this will look like\, or even if it will happen\, but what is certain is that the political landscape in Britain has changed. We have seen a rise in xenophobia\, islamophobia and racism. \nThe UK is becoming more divided. It is more important than ever to recognise the power of grassroots activism\, community organising and international solidarity. \nOn Saturday 30th of March\, The People’s Film Club will be bringing together the best activist groups\, charities\, campaigns and art collectives in town for THE ACTIVIST FAIR\, ft. Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants\, Khidr Collective\, Counterpoints Arts\, Sisters Uncut\, Feminist Anti-Fascist Assembly\, Unis Resist Border Controls\, The Outside Project\, Refugee Info Bus\, Skin Deep\, Streets Kitchen & many\, many more. \nIceandfire will be sharing real stories from people about their experiences of seeking refuge and the uk asylum process. Artists from the RCA will be hosting an interactive art exhibition entitled ‘Mini\, Mini Europe’. Plus more workshops to be announced! \nJoin us for an afternoon of workshops\, performances\, and the chance to chat with the grassroots movements fighting for an open and equal Britain. \n– \nThe People’s Film Club is hosting BEYOND BORDERS\, a festival of film\, discussion\, art\, and performance celebrating the power of collaboration and international solidarity. \nAll funds raised will go to refugee and migrant support projects\, led by L’Auberge des Migrants and Médecins Sans Frontières. \nCome and join the conversation… #BeyondBordersBAC

DESCRIPTION:Asylum Monologues\, March 23\, London\n\nOur Future Now (the Youth wing of Global Justice Now) are hosting a day of panels and workshops exploring what open borders will mean for all of us\, and a night of spoken world\, dance\, live music and DJs celebrating the theme: Freedom of Movement.\nWe will be presenting some of our material there at around 6:30pm. Tickets are free for those who are unable to pay. There are also £5 solidarity tickets for those who can to donate. DESCRIPTION:‘We want to stop people being deported… so let’s stop the plane. It just made complete sense.’\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 2017\, fifteen activists (the Stansted 15) cut through the perimeter fence of Stansted Airport and locked themselves together surrounding a plane\, preventing the deportation of 60 people. This brand new documentary play follows the story of that action and its repercussions for the activists and some of the people who were meant to be on that flight.\n\n\n\n\n\n‘The day before the flight\, I called my daughter and told her I’ve decided to relocate to Nigeria.
